As most of you know, Anthony S. DeNorchia, who had been our District's Superintendent for more than twenty years, retired effective January 1, 2011. Superintendent DeNorchia shaped our schools in so many beneficial ways, and was tireless in his efforts to protect and improve our schools, and our students' educational experience and emotional growth. Superintendent DeNorchia was also a welcome and strong supporter of the Hillsdale K-8 Education Foundation. He was instrumental in our establishment and initial funding; he brought us new funding opportunities and program ideas; he attended and was a strong creative force at our Board meetings; and he was an advocate for our ideas and goals with the Board of Education, the Schools, and the community as a whole. The Foundaton, the parents, and the students owe Superintendent DeNorchia our deepest gratitude.
Accordingly, the Foundation has established the ANTHONY S. DENORCHIA HONORARY GRANT PROGRAM. This grant was seeded with $1,000 in Foundation funds, and supplemented by your additional donations. As per Mr. DeNorchia's wishes, the proceeds of the grant will be directed toward curricular enhancements, professional development, and other programs in the area of TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION -- making sure that the Schools are making the most effective use of technology. This was a high priority for Superintendent DeNorchia during his years in Hillsdale, as he spearhearded efforts to bring our Schools to the forefront in educational technology. We are proud to contribute to his legacy by having this grant devoted to programs which ensure the ongoing efforts to improve our schools and technology.
